DURING THE TIME OF JIM CROW LAWS:

During this time of segregation, many African Americans were treated very unfairly. Travel and communication was difficult for black people so reservations were hard to make. Even though sometimes they made arrangements with hotels, they were rejected and asked to leave because of their skin discrimination. This action were known to a lot of accommodations as well such as gas stations, diners, etc. Something had to be down and Victor Hugo Green was the person to change something like this.

NEED FOR A CHANGE

Victor Hugo Green noticed of how accommodations were treating African Americans. Starting in New York he wrote down in a journal of places that weren't discriminated or were black owned. He gave it to family, friends, & others. He loved to travel and such so exploring restaurants and gas stations wasn't a problem for him. Mr. Green working as a postal carrier he thought of selling the book for profit, but not much for profit, for helping anyone from suffering consequences for being somewhere they're are not welcomed.

"There will be a day sometime in the near future when this guide will not have to be published. That is when we as a race will have equal opportunities and privileges in the United States. It will be a great day for us to suspend this publication for then we can go wherever we please, and without embarrassment."
